The Great Estates of Trinidad™ are a series of superb drawings of the country’s splendid 19th century estate houses.
Government House was formerly the property and residence of Henri Peschier, Esq. The property was purchased by Governor Sir Ralph Woodford, Bart., in 1818 and vast improvements were made by him. This house is said to have been situated to the front of today’s President’s House. It was drawn in the 1820s by Richard Bridgens, an engineer who erected buildings such as the first Red House and the Police Barracks.
